Tune in to The Scott Emerson Drive Show from 4.15pm to hear Professor Peter Coaldrake AO discuss the review LIVE.

The Premier has announced a major probe into the culture of accountability in her government today.

Former QUT vicechancellor Professor Peter Coaldrake will lead the four-month independent investigation.

It will probe interactions between integrity bodies, public servants and ministers and how ethics and integrity complaints are dealt with.

There will be an interim report in two months and a final report in four.

Senior Nine News reporter Tim Arvier told Neil Breen it’s a tacit admission by the government that the issue needs to be resolved.

But he noticed there’s still some issues with the inquiry.

“They’ve appointed Peter Coaldrake and he may be very well qualified but he’s also a former member of the Labor Party.

“To have a former member of the Labor Party investigating the Labor Party, there’s a perception problem right there.

“No doubt the Premier can explain why she thinks it will be suitable at the press conference today.”

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk addressed concerns around Professor Coaldrake’s links with the Labor Party at her press conference.

“I think the public should absolutely have confidence in the fact that he was the QUT vice-chancellor over the past 14 years,” she said.

“I don’t think anyone is going to question his reputation.”

When Tim pressed Ms Palaszczuk with further questions, she conceded she was ‘unaware’ Professor Coaldrake had previously donated to the party.
