Myer will close the doors of its Brisbane city store at the end of July.

The Queen Street Mall retailer has been the main tenant at the centre for more than 30 years.

David Claire was the opening manager of the flagship store in 1988.

He said it was revolutionary for Australia’s retail scene, and Myer was the anchor tenant.

“It was the first multi-level CBD shopping centre in Australia in its time, we had 200 retail tenants and never before had their been an entertainment centre … theatres on the ground floor,” he told Neil Breen.

QUT retail expert Professor Gary Mortimer said it was interesting that Myer had flagged they would search for another CBD location.
