Geoffrey Rush suing for defamation
Prominent Australian actor Geoffrey Rush has launched legal action against The Daily Telegraph over allegations he engaged in inappropriate sexual conduct during the production of King Lear.
The Oscar winner held a media conference this afternoon, saying the publication has “irreparably damaged” his reputation.
“The Daily Telegraph has made false and demeaning claims. This has been extremely hurtful to my wife, my daughter and my son.
“The situation is intolerable and I must now seek vindication of my good name through the courts.”
