‘Get real!’: Report emerges of a bizarre bid to snare the NRL grand final
There’s a report the Western Australian government has made a last-ditch bid to snare the NRL grand final.
The Courier Mail is reporting that WA government officials made the bid amid fears of a looming lockdown in the south-east of the state this weekend.
It’s still not clear what will happen if SEQ goes into lockdown, but it’s been reported the final could be delayed a week rather than having no crowds.
Perth’s Optus Stadium hosted the AFL grand final amid Melbourne’s climbing COVID cases.
“Mark McGowan, Western Australia, get real,” Scott Emerson said.
“How pathetic of them today. You wouldn’t expect anything less from them.
“There’s no way the NRL grand final is heading down across the Nullabor.”
