‘Go find others’: Federal Minister joins chorus of criticism for border ‘double standard’
Federal MP Stuart Robert has joined the criticism of the government’s decision to allow a chartered plane of NRL officials, journalists and family members into Queensland.
Last week the government announced a pause on hotel quarantine, leaving Queenslanders in other states stuck and in limbo.
Mr Robert, the Minister for Employment, suggested the government “go find some other” hotels for quarantine.
“It’s pretty disappointing if you think about it, forget about Minister Dutton or myself because it’s sort of not relevant, there are thousands of Queenslanders stuck.
“You have the Member for Leichhardt Warren Entsch, speaking about surgeons, police officers, cancer patients, all who can’t get into their homes, like me they’re stateless, they’re not allowed back in, they have to apply for a permit.”
He said it was “worse than a double standard”.
“Last week I made the point that I get that the Premier’s 22 hotels are full, go find some others, Premier, the Gold Coast, my home has got hundreds of them empty.”
