Gold Coast caravan park evacuated after lashing from ‘intense low’
It’s been a sleepless night for many on the Gold Coast after a monster supercell dumped more than 300 millimetres of rain.
Three people were rescued from their car in Helensvale early this morning in one of four SES rescues overnight.
Meanwhile, campers at the Big 4 caravan park in the same area were forced to higher ground after their tents filled with water.

A severe thunderstorm warning for damaging winds and heavy rain has just been issued for parts of the Gold Coast.
“That small but intense low is sitting just off the northern end of the Gold Coast at the moment,” long-range forecaster Ken Kato told Spencer Howson.
“At this stage, the latest modelling suggests that low will probably remain slow-moving over the next few hours but with a southerly tendency to its movement.”
