Golfing world abuzz with LIV golf tour chatter surrounding Cameron Smith
Golfer Cameron Smith is refusing to deny reports that he will join the LIV golf tour.
British newspaper The Telegraph claim Smith has signed a deal to jump ship.
Fellow Australian Pro Cameron Percy also hinted in a radio interview Smith and Marc Leishman were “gone” before later qualifying the comment on Twitter.
Smith responded to the reports when asked about a potential move, saying he’ll be the one to announce his plans for the future.
Former touring profession and current coach Wayne Perske says it’s a fascinating situation.
“It’s probably the most interesting time in golf, that I can remember and I have been involved in it in probably 35 years,” he told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports.
He says golfers would never have imagined the sort of money to be made by joining the Saudi-backed LIV tour.
And up until now, the PGA Tour has had a monopoly on the game.
