Government presents revised Coomera Connector plans amid resident concerns
The initial Coomera Connector plans originally intersected with the Eagleby Wetlands, but the government has now disclosed revised plans to address this issue.
Over the weekend, the government unveiled updated plans for the Coomera Connector, proposing a shift of the highway 80 meters to the east of its current planned location. This adjustment aims to address the worries of Logan residents regarding land resumptions and potential impacts on the Eagleby Wetlands.
Eagleby Wetlands Community Group member, Marcus Fitzgerald, told Peter Gleeson on Drive, “…We’re still going to have the same traffic problems on the M1…and that’s what we’re really concerned about as a group. Whilst the government tries to show everyone look we have a shiny new road, they’re not doing any work on existing infrastructure where those billions of dollars would be much better put to.”
“…Our group has put many times to TMR an alternative proposal further downstream, acquiring only one bridge, and they’ve used every excuse under the sun to try and claim it would be more expensive and it wouldn’t be a good idea…” Mr. Fitzgerald.
