Grease is the word for Queensland’s new generation of theatre stars on QPAC stage

Queensland Conservatorium’s musical theatre students will graduate straight to the stage at QPAC, bringing a modern take to Grease

With a cast comprised entirely by students, Grease will look a little different in November.

Sean Johnston, who plays Danny, told Sofie Formica the traditional story is still the same, there will be a few twists.

“A few of the roles have been gender bent, so we’ve got non-traditional casting for a few of the roles.

“We focus on Sandy’s journey – less about how she’s empowered by the people around her but how she finds empowerment within herself.

“It brings forward different stories … and puts it in more of a modern lens.”
