There are 104,000 Queenslanders on wait lists to see specialists, a new report reveals.

Auditor-General Brendan Worrall released his latest report on the status of the state’s health sector.

He found there was a huge, growing demand for elective surgeries, specialist services and ambulance ramping remained an ongoing crisis.

It found paramedics lost more than 134,000 hours in 2022 due to ramping.

Senior 9 News reporter Tim Arvier says there are a number of standout facts and figures from the report.

“Queensland Health had missed its targets for Category 1a patients, the most urgent, the lights and sirens … the target is to get 90 per cent of patients seen within 16.5 minutes.

“That’s gone over for the first time in five years, 17.6 minutes for those urgent Category 1a cases.”
