Half a million families could miss out on childcare subsides

Article image for Half a million families could miss out on childcare subsides

Changes are being made to childcare subsidies which could mean some families miss out.

The Turnbull government is combining existing subsidies for childcare into a single means and activity tested payment.

But 489,000 eligible families haven’t updated their Centrelink details that will ensure they continue to receive funding.

General Manager of the Department of Human Services Hank Jongen joins Chris Smith to explain.

“It’s really simple…. essentially you register through myGov, link to Centrelink… follow the prompts.”

Jongen says we should be welcoming the new system, as it’s making the process a lot easier.

The deadline to change your details is July 2.
