The actor who brought the story of Molly Meldrum’s rise to fame to television screens says it’s time the music guru hangs up his hat. 

Meldrum shocked fans of Sir Elton John at the weekend by baring his naked backside onstage, which he claims was the result of a broken belt buckle.

But Gold Logie award-winning actor Samuel Johnson told Sofie Formica he’s “sick” of Meldrum’s antics.

Samuel Johnson: “I thought you were angling to get a comment on the Molly Meldrum fiasco…”

Sofie Formica: “Well, only if you want to give me one.”

Samuel Johnson: “He needs to hang up his hat. Now!”
