North Queensland Cowboys coach Todd Payten has praised Tom Dearden’s growth at the club, after his move from the Broncos in 2021.

“(I) felt sorry for him at the end of that time at the Broncos, (he) didn’t have a lot of help around him,” Payten said.

“I felt like he was made a bit of a scapegoat but through Tommy’s hard work and tenacity that he’s got himself to where he is.”
