Health authorities in Queensland are still “working through” the impacts of the planned public holiday next week, to commemorate the Queen’s passing.

Yesterday, president of the AMAQ Dr Maria Boulton said the uncertainty had caused chaos for healthcare providers, including GPs and the public health system.

It’s still not clear if elective surgeries, GP and specialist appointments will be able to go ahead.

Neil Breen said a statement from Queensland Health about the issue had left him scratching his head.

“I am going to put this next item into you can’t make this stuff up,” Neil said.

In a statement to Brisbane Live, a spokesperson for Queensland Health says authorities are still working through the details.

“Queensland Health has given Brisbane Live a short statement saying the state government is still working through the likely impacts of the September 22 public holiday on the health system,” the statement read.
