Health Minister under pressure to stand down over damning hospital failures
It will be hard to argue against calls for the Health Minister to stand down after a damning report into Mackay Hospital, Bill McDonald says.
An investigation into the obstetrics and gynaecology department has revealed shocking cases of negligence, including three incidents where inadequate care was a factor in the death of babies.
“There’s a lot happening on Yvette D’Ath’s watch but this takes the cake, doesn’t it?” Bill said on 4BC Afternoons.

Ms D’Ath was visibly emotional as she handed down the report today, which was compiled after interviews with more than 80 women.
“To all the women and families who have been impacted by these failures, I offer my sincerest, unreserved apology,” she said.
“I am deeply sorry for the harm that has been caused to you and your family. Our health system can and must do better.”
Some women who have given evidence to the investigation have arrived to hear @YvetteDAth media conference. They’ve been told they can’t come in. Some are in tears @9NewsQueensland pic.twitter.com/9x78eZ7qBP
