A former Hey Dad..! child star and victim of convicted sex offender Robert Hughes says she has mixed feelings about a parole bid.

The disgraced actor will next week learn if he is to be released on parole after being behind bars since 2014 for sexually abusing four girls during the 1980s and 1990s.

The court has heard the disgraced actor is still a “denier” but his wife claims he will attend treatment overseas if he is released.

Hughes has renounced his Australian citizenship, meaning if he is released, he will be deported to the UK.

One of his victims, former child actor Sarah Monahan, returned to Australia from the US to face Hughes in court.

She told Sofie Formica she feels as the public face of Hughes’ crimes, she feels obligated to stay present in court proceedings.

“Of course, we want him to do his time but at the same time, every year we go through this,” she said.

“I’d like to see him go back to England but then, we want to make sure kids in England are safe and they’re not just like, turfing out some paedophile onto small children there, especially since he is a denier.

“It’s fine for us to now be safe but what about those kids?”
