There’s a push to relax household COVID-19 contact rules in Queensland in line with NSW and Victoria.

In both states, household close contacts will be free to leave the home but will be required to undergo regular rapid antigen tests.

CEO of the Queensland Hotels Association Bernie Hogan says Queensland should follow suit.

“It’s probably the hidden hindrance for our industry but for so many others as well,” he told Peter Psaltis filling in on 4BC Drive.

He says the close contact rules are “crippling the industry”.

“We will always be following the medical advice, well I’d imagine the medical advice is very similar to what’s happening in Victoria and NSW.”

On COVID quarantine hotels, he says some are recovering better than others.

“It takes time to re-settle that brand so people are comfortable again.”
