Holidaymakers make lucky escape after seaplane crash
Six people are counting their lucky stars after their seaplane crashed into waters off Hamilton Island in the Whitsundays.
The seaplane crashed into the ocean off Hamilton Island around 1pm.
All five passengers and the pilot managed to free themselves from the sinking wreckage before swimming to shore.
They were then assessed by paramedics but no one was injured.
Hamilton Island Airport was closed for a short period of time and has now reopened.
Investigations are underway to figure out what went wrong.
It’s the second seaplane to go down in the Whitsunday’s this month.
