‘How about a fair go?’: Truckies warn fuel tax hike could raise price of goods
The trucking industry is warning a proposed $650 million tax hike could raise the cost of groceries and other goods.
The Australian reports state governments are considering the plan, which would see the “Road User Charge” increased by 11.8 per cent over three years.
Queensland Trucking Association CEO Gary Mahon tells Ross Greenwood it could send truckies broke.
“We understand we need to pay our way… but what we’re saying is how about a fair go?”
“For many, the fuel bill is the edge that might just tip them over into being unsustainable.”
