Two Australians could make history in the Super Bowl today as they line up for the Eagles.

Jordan Mailata and former AFL player Arryn Siposs could be the first Australians to play for a winning team in the Super Bowl if Philadelphia proves triumphant over Kansas.

Siposs was given a late call-up yesterday after battling to overcome what previously appeared to be a season-ending ankle injury.

Wide World of Sports host Peter Psaltis told Laurel & Mark Mailata is “fair dinkum ridgey didge”.

“Sometimes we can overhype an Aussie involvement in an overseas team,” he said. “Not in this case.

“Jordan Mailata is a genuine star for the Philadelphia Eagles. He hits like you wouldn’t believe and he will play a major role for the Eagles today.”

Tens of thousands of fans are expected inside Phoenix’s State Farm Stadium today, with the game’s much-anticipated half-time show to be headlined by Rihanna.
