How our veterans are restoring hope to drought-ravaged communities
Veterans from across Australia are selflessly lending a hand to communities doing it tough in the drought.
Team Rubicon Australia unites Australian Defence Force veterans with emergency service workers, training them to respond to national disasters.
They are currently delivering millions of litres of water to farmers in Dubbo thanks to Clubs NSW’s Litres for the Land appeal, which 2GB has partnered with.
Veteran Tony Griffiths tells Alan Jones they also spent time in Townsville earlier this year after catastrophic flooding devastated the community.
“We spent four weeks up there doing really simple things from helping people clean their houses to cleaning out the debris.
“It really was about restoring hope to a community that was devastated. Our focus, of course, was on those members of the community who couldn’t necessarily help themselves.”
