How the NRL will ensure COVID-19 won’t bring down the NRL season
COVID-19 continues to affect our lives, and that carries over into the NRL.
Last season was filled with restrictions and protocols, and that’ll continue this year.
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo has provided an update on what the ongoing presence of COVID means for the competition.
He told The Continuous Call Team “players from all clubs are tested everyday before they arrive at the club and enter the group”.
“If someone tests positive, then they’re isolated so that there isn’t a spread amongst the general group”.
“Squad groups are bigger and we’ve loosened restrictions around moving players in from state cup teams when necessary to manage the risk”.
“But we want to now phase into living with this virus and making sure we can continue as normal as we can”.
Mr Abdo also spoke about the latest changes to the NRL judiciary, and the crackdown on the way the ball is being played.
