Hundreds of complaints force flight path changes to reduce aircraft noise
Flight paths out of Brisbane Airport will be updated under a 12-month trial to reduce noise in northern suburbs.
More flights will be directed over Moreton Bay and planes will depart at steeper angles.
The changes come after hundreds of complaints were lodged to a special forum.
Brisbane MP Trevor Evans told Sofie Formica it’s a great result.
“We really did feel like residents’ voices and concerns weren’t being heard properly.
“We really needed to upend the government’s decision making process and get some more independence.
“Those trials can commence immediately.”

Brisbane Flight Path Community Alliance chairman David Diamond the changes weren’t what residents were pushing for.
“There’s three good initiatives but certainly, they’re not probably the main initiatives that we’re wanting,” he told Scott Emerson.
“I think that those three points, the actual improvement will be marginal.
“Once we get the International Airport open in the next couple of weeks, the noise is going to go up exponentially.”
