Ichi Ban has been handed the overall winner title in the 2019 Sydney to Hobart, taking home the prestigious Tattersall Cup.

It’s the second time the boat has taken out the handicap honours after winning in 2017.

Ichi Ban Skipper, Matt Allen tells Erin Molan and Natalie Peters it was a really tactical race this year.

“We had essentially sailed through four weather systems in really two days and six hours.

“The moment you got into those weather systems if you didn’t get out of them in good shape then it was sort of game over.

“It was really demanding on the navigator and tactician… pretty challenging conditions.”
