Iconic retailer Roger David to close 57 stores as no buyer comes forward
Budget menswear chain Roger David will close 57 of its fashion and accessories stores after the iconic brand failed to find a buyer.
The 76-year-old retailer went into administration in October and were hopeful they’d find a buyer.
But no potential buyers have followed though.
KordaMentha managed the process and administrator Craig Shepherd tells Ross Greenwood “we really thought we’d get it away”.
“I was very confident.
“I think in the end that leap of faith for the interested parties to make, they couldn’t get there, they couldn’t do it.”
Mr Shepherd says a combination of factors have contributed to the brand’s collapse, with warehousing being a major issue.
He tells Ross he wouldn’t be surprised if another retailer goes into administration before Christmas.
