Injured bushwalker’s two day crawl to safety
An injured bushwalker ended up crawling for two days before being rescued north-west of Brisbane.
54-year-old Neil Parker was hiking alone on Mount Nebo on the weekend when he slipped and fractured his left leg at the top of a waterfall and fell six metres into the water below.
With a wrist injury and fractured leg, he began a three-kilometre crawl to safety.
When his ex-wife raised the alarm he was winched from a clearing by a rescue helicopter and taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane for treatment.
Veteran bushwalker Neil Parker has generously shared his emotional ordeal on Mount Nebo in recent days from his PA Hospital bed. The 54 year old is checking in for surgery this afternoon.
