Insurance giant removes itself from comparison websites
One of Australia’s largest private health insurance companies has decided to strip its information off comparison websites.
HBF CEO John Van Der Wielen tells Ross Greenwood it about “valuing existing customers more than you necessarily value new customers”.
He tells Ross Greenwood the commission paid to comparison websites can be up to 30% and it’s just “not worth the money”.
“What I’ve noticed is the amount of commission we’re paying to grow into the Sydney, Melbourne markets is costing my existing market base and it’s not profitable.”
