The highly anticipated reopening of River Heart Parklands has arrived, but not all of the park has been able to recover from last year’s devastating floods.

Ipswich’s extremely popular River Heart Parklands has been closed since last year’s floods after being smashed by the Bremer River, but earlier this week part of the park reopened for keen locals.

Ipswich Mayor Teresa Harding joined Bill McDonald on Brisbane Live to discuss the once state-of-the-art park’s reopening.

Mayor Harding said the actual boardwalk is not yet open due to structural issues and damage.

There’s still a long road to recovery for Ipswich, with one third of their 550 flood projects ticked off the list so far.
