Young league players should be kept from going on podcasts in the future, Trevor Gillmeister says.

Broncos fullback Selwyn Cobbo has found himself in hot water after comments he made criticising coach Kevin Walters on a podcast resurfaced online.

The Axe says while he understands what the young gun was may have been getting at, it didn’t come across well at all.

“I’m getting back more to the areas that he’s alluding to about [Walters] doesn’t know much about this or that,” he told Bill McDonald on 4BC Summer Mornings.

“That’s why even Mal Maninga said to me while we were away, ‘We don’t know everything and that’s why we get people in to do their different roles’.

“It’s poorly worded; they should stay off [podcasts], mate. I understand it’s a relaxed atmosphere and trying to have a bit of a yarn-type situation, but it comes out poorly, mate.”
