“It’s A Cop Out!” – Should Mobile Phones Be Banned In Schools?
While other Australian states implement mobile phone bans in schools, Queensland faces mounting pressure to join them.
Proponents of bans argue that they can reduce distractions, improve student focus, and minimize cyberbullying.
However, critics claim that such bans may not be as effective as anticipated, and that teaching responsible phone usage should be the priority for Queensland schools.
Child Psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg reckons it’s a cop-out and says “it’s astonishing that Queensland is a holdout” after all the other states make changes.
