‘It’s a tough one, but I hope he gets off’: Roosters great says Slater should play
Never before has the weight of an NRL grand final rested so heavily on the shoulders of two men a week out from kick-off.
Team physios at the Sydney Roosters are working overtime to get the injured Cooper Cronk ready to take to the field in Sunday’s NRL grand final against Melbourne.
The Storm will head to the Judiciary Tuesday night, in a bid to clear Billy Slater’s suspension for a grade one shoulder charge against Cronulla winger Sosaia Feki.
It will determine if he can face the Sydney Roosters in his farewell NRL grand final.
Roosters great Anthony Minichiello tells Steve Price Slater “they’ve got to let him play”.
He says the fullback didn’t have many options and he doesn’t think it was that bad.
“Look, it was a shoulder charge but to miss a grand final and his last game… I think all the players, even all the Rooster boys want to see him play.
“I don’t know if it was that bad.
“It’s a tough one, but I hope he gets off.”
