‘It’s just catastrophic’: Greens’ radical plan for flight curfews at Brisbane Airport
The Greens have unveiled a proposal to implement flight curfews, but this measure could be more detrimental than beneficial to Queensland.
If elected, the Greens’ proposed plan would impact 11 international carriers and could potentially reduce Queensland’s annual economy by $2.82 billion by the year 2032.
Stephen Beckett, Head of Public Affairs for Brisbane Airport Corporation told Peter Gleeson on Drive, “We found it perplexing. That right in the middle of a national debate about Australians accessing affordable air travel, that the Greens would want to slash international service as well as thousands of flights to regional Queensland…”
“…When you constrain Brisbane Airport, that has a considerable knock-on effect right across Queensland…so when you slash, hundreds and then thousands of services out of the network, that will have a significant impact on the tourism industry, on jobs, but also on the amount Queenslanders pay to move and their own state and around the world,” Mr. Beckett continued.
