The Queensland Governor has described the damage caused by the flood disaster as soul-destroying.

Dr Jeannette Young has been at the Eastern Suburbs Football Club at East Brisbane this morning, which remains flooded.

She told Neil Breen it’s overwhelming to see all the damage first-hand.

“Everywhere, I can see the work happening,” she said. “It is absolutely awful seeing people’s goods piled up on the footpath.

“People are just fantastic and responding but they need help.”
