Jamal Fogarty on moving to the Raiders and how his persistence paid off
Jamal Fogarty has signed a three year deal with the Canberra Raiders and says he is humbled and excited for the next chapter in his NRL career.
He told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports the last two seasons with the Gold Coast Titans had been “awesome”.
“It’s a great opportunity for myself to continue to play NRL for the next three years, it will just be in the Canberra Raiders jersey which I am grateful for the club for giving me the opportunity but also I am a little bit sad to leave the club I came to as a 17-year-old, young fella forever ago.
“A little bit sad, but I am super excited and I can’t wait to get down there to Canberra and meet all the boys and the coaching staff and rip into the training.”
He said signing the deal is a “great reward for persistence and consistent hard work”.
“I thought there was plenty of times in 2019 for the Burleigh Bears Intrust Super Cup I was too old, maybe NRL is not my thing, maybe I am meant to be a youth worker, and here we are two years later and I’ve played 40 odd games for the Titans and signed a three year deal with the Raiders.”
