Jersey Day: Get involved to support organ donation
Ray Hadley is encouraging everyone to wear a jersey this Friday, August 30, to raise awareness for organ donation.
Jersey Day is inspired by the story of 13-year-old Nathan Gremmo, who tragically lost his life in an accident in 2015.
Nathan became an organ donor, having already discussed his decision with his family before his untimely death.
Now, the Gremmo family advocates on behalf of their son, encouraging Australians to wear a jersey on August 30 to raise awareness about becoming an organ donor.
Nathan’s father, Michael Gremmo, tells Ray Hadley in times of grief it’s much easier to make the decision about organ donation when you’ve already spoken to your friends and family about it.
“You can’t tick a box on your licence any more, you have to get online and register, but more importantly have that conversation because your family can turn that decision over.”

Police Minister David Elliott tells Ray his son was in Nathan’s class.
“It’s a very special day for my son and I, and his classmates.
“For us, it was a very, very, personal experience.
“It’s wonderful to see that this sacrifice of this family, built on tragedy, has actually become such a positive thing for families.”
