Joe Hildebrand calls for calm, explains the ‘good news’ about Omicron

Numbers out of South Africa are showing positive signs of a way out of the pandemic, Joe Hildebrand says.
The nation has been at the forefront of the Omicron variant wave, since it was first detected in November.
While Australia has a double dose vaccination rate of more than 75 per cent, South Africa’s is at just 26.3 per cent.
“[Omicron] broke out in South Africa just last month in November and now those numbers have gone from a high of almost 27,000 … down to 15,000 by this Tuesday,” Joe said.
Better yet, Joe said, data indicates the virus is 80 per cent less virulent than other strains.
“[They’re] 80 per cent less likely to be admitted to hospital.
“Their doctors are rapt, they’re calling it a good news story!”
