JT weighs in on hip-drop tackle, Pat Carrigan’s suspension
Johnathan Thurston says Brisbane Broncos prop Pat Carrigan’s four week suspension for a hip-drop tackle was fair, and he hopes it deters other players.
The tackle during Saturday’s game ended with Wests Tigers player Jackson Hastings suffering a broken leg, ending his season.
JT told Peter Psaltis on Wide World of Sports in his view the four week ban was sufficient.
“I think the match review committee got it right.”
He said he hopes it will make players more aware of their tackling techniques, and deter them from doing the same.
“It’s just an unfortunate tackle, I think we need to stamp it out of the game.”
