The Home Affairs Minister has defended the pace of the AUKUS pact amid a plan to develop hypersonic missiles.

The trilateral alliance has announced new cooperation on electronic warfare capabilities.

China and Russia have both conducted successful tests of hypersonic missiles.

Karen Andrews told Neil Breen the security alliance is “obviously very conscious” of China’s activity.

“I don’t think it’s fair to say we are so far behind at all,” she said. “We have been developing capability for our defence forces some time now.

“We have been working very diligently to increase our capability.”
