Kerri-Anne Kennerley calls for change to Logies after ‘overreaction’ to this year’s winner
Hall of Fame Logie winner Kerri-Anne Kennerley has suggested a change to Logie nominations after the controversy around this year’s winner.
The Logies were heavily criticised this year after Tom Gleeson won the Gold Logie despite leading a satirical campaign.
Some of his competitors included a couple of lower profile nominees, including Sunrise weather presenter Sam Mac and ABC gardening guru Costa Georgiadis.
Ms Kennerley has suggested the media industry put forth nominations before it opens up to the public.
She tells Natalie Peters and Erin Molan the stars nominated for the Gold Logie were part of the problem.
“I think everybody completely overreacted to Tom Gleeson’s win.
“When he was nominated he put on the best social media campaign. I mean simple, plain as that.
“I do think the Gold should be a little bit more valuable rather than people taking the mickey, although I agree, he won, fair and square.”
