Labor forced to pivot on election campaign plans as Anthony Albanese recovers from COVID-19
Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese is said to be experiencing mild symptoms due to a COVID-19 infection, as he recovers at his Sydney home.
Federal political editor Michael Pachi has been on the campaign trail this week.
He predicts it will be a blip on the radar for the Labor leader.
“Within government ranks, they think if he was going to get COVID, this was the week for him to get it because the bottom line is there’s still another 3, 4 weeks to go before an election is held,” he told Jason Dasey filling in on 4BC Drive.
Mr Albanese was due to fly to Western Australia today.
He says Mr Albanese will be hoping his senior leadership team don’t make any gaffes in his absence, and Labor will be worried about Scott Morrison’s ability to campaign strongly.
He says the key difference between Mr Albanese and Mr Morrison is “detail”.
