NATO leaders have agreed to send further military aid to Ukraine and tighten its sanctions against the Kremlin.

The pledges still fall short of repeated requests by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to be provided added air support to shield from Russian attacks.

Mr Zelenskyy claimed Russia is using weapons of mass destruction and has its sights set beyond Ukraine.

Ukrainian studies research fellow Sonia Mycak told Sofie Formica while it fell short of Ukrainian calls for aid the decision is a sign support is moving in the right direction.

“I think that it means NATO may actually be moving toward making a more concerted effort collectively to assist Ukraine.

“Until now, individual countries have been assisting, however NATO has consistently stopped short of doing exactly what President Zelenskyy has asked for.”
