Brisbane Airport is gearing up for its second-busiest day since the pandemic began after a weekend of events in the city.

Domestic travellers are being urged to arrive at least 90 minutes early with more than 57,000 people set to pass through the terminal today.

4BC Breakfast’s Laurel Edwards told Gary and Mark she was caught in the chaos last week after a trip to Hawaii.

“I was really excited, had it all booked, ready to go and on the way back, hit a few hurdles,” she said.

“It seems a lot of people have gone through this with flight cancellations.”

Flying home with Hawaiian Airlines, she and husband, Troy, had to make a stop-over in Sydney.

“Well, it ended up being a rather long layover,” she continued.

“Two-hour line-ups for getting to check-in and also through security; security was absolute mayhem.

“Got all the way through, still on the 10am flight, got checked in, sitting around waiting and then all of a sudden they said, ‘Oh, your flight’s cancelled now’.”
