Lonely Planet names ‘magic’ Queensland destination among best in the world
Queensland’s Scenic Rim has been named one of the world’s hottest travel destinations for next year.
The region has taken out the eighth spot on Lonely Planet’s “Best in Travel” guide for 2022.
The Scenic Rim is the only Australian destination that has made the annual top 10 list.
Lonely Planet’s Chris Zeiler told Sofie Formica it’s the people who make the Scenic Rim.
“It’s like they invite you in and you’re part of the family and I think that’s the special sauce that makes the Scenic Rim such a magic destination.
“I’m super excited we’re telling the world.”

Chairman of the Scenic Rim eco-tourism icon Binna Burra, Steve Noakes, was elated at the news and said the Lonely Planet status was “very significant”.
“It’s remarkable actually, what a surprise for us,” he told Scott Emerson.
“We are the only place in Australia on the world stage! And goodness me, I didn’t realise how global this information went, it’s been buzzing all day!”
