Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner says he believes the Drift restaurant will have to be demolished after it was again impacted by flooding.

The business was hit by the devastating 2011 floods, and has been vacant ever since.

In February last year, the current owner told Neil Breen he was hoping to restore the iconic floating restaurant.

Once again, the restaurant has been partially destroyed.

“It’s been an eyesore for a decade, we just want to see it gone,” Cr Schrinner told Scott Emerson.

“I think now this is the impetus to have it gone.

“Basically it’s moved across, and it’s on the land now, blocking the bicentennial bikeway and so it has to be moved, it ill have to be demolished and removed.”
