‘Made us look like fools!’: Aussie dairy snubbed by QLD government
A family-run dairy business has missed out on supplying products to some of Queensland’s largest public hospitals in favour of Chinese and French-owned companies.
Maleny Dairies claimed that if it had been awarded the two-year contract, it would have provided local jobs at a time when Queensland dairy farms are in decline.
The Labor government has been criticised for ignoring their own “buy local” policy.
Mark Levy says, “Premier, you’ve got to start practising what you preach!”
Owner of Maleny Dairies Ross Hopper tells Mark they met the requirements and are disappointed to have missed out.
“I can’t understand it. We don’t know what’s happening.
“Why didn’t you award it to an Australian company? You talk about buying Queensland, we’re a Queensland company and you’ve just blatantly made us look like fools.”
