Malcolm Turnbull reaches fatal milestone
The Prime Minister has reached the benchmark he set for failed leadership when he ousted Tony Abbott from the nation’s top job.
In September 2015, Malcolm Turnbull knifed Mr Abbott using 30 Newspoll losses as a key reason for change.
Mr Turnbull has now failed his own test, extending the Coalition’s losing streak to 564 days.
The latest Newspoll shows the Opposition has a four point lead over the government, 52% to 48% after preferences.
The result marks an improvement on previous surveys, but the Coalition would still convincingly lose an election if it were held now.
Mr Turnbull remains marginally more popular than Opposition leader Bill Shorten, but voter satisfaction with both is low.
