A man and woman will face court today, charged with the murder of an eight-year-old girl in Toowoomba.

Police were called to a Rangeville home around 5.30pm on Saturday, where they found the body of the girl.

A joint investigation was immediately launched by the Toowoomba Child Protection and Investigation Unit, the Child Trauma Unit and the Homicide Investigation Unit.

A 50-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were yesterday arrested and charged with murder, torture and failure to provide the necessities of life.

They have been denied police bail and will face Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
