The Foreign Affairs Minister says reports that China may have influenced Russia’s invasion of Ukraine are ‘deeply concerning’.

Western intelligence reported that China had requested Russia delay its invasion of Ukraine until the Beijing Olympics has finished.

Marise Payne told Neil Breen she’s aware of the reports but they’re ultimately “for China to respond to”.

“But to be very clear, any collaboration on this illegal, unjustified and unprovoked Russian invasion would be deeply concerning.

“And similarly, we are concerned by apparent increasing cooperation between authoritarian regimes around the world.

“Members of the UN Security Council should be loudly and clearly saying that this invasion is not lawful and this invasion should be condemned.”
