Mark Latham: Barnaby Joyce just a ‘political nuisance’ to colleagues
Barnaby Joyce is defending his right to accept $150,000 for a television interview, because the media profited from invading his privacy.
The former Nationals leader and his partner Vikki Campion struck a deal with Channel Seven for a tell-all interview and the decision has caused a stir in parliament.
Some of his colleagues have slammed the move as “disgusting”.
The Outsider Mark Latham tells Ben Fordham the former deputy PM is preparing to ditch politics.
“He looks illogical, he looks like a man who’s getting ready to leave the parliament.
“I’d be surprised if he runs at the next election.
“It really is a full stop, an exclamation mark… on a very, very sad serious of events for him, his partner and his child.”
Mark says Joyce’s colleagues will be hoping he makes a speedy exit.
“He’s nothing but a political nuisance to them.
“A distraction from the real business of government and, as you say, keeps putting that big foot of his in his even bigger mouth.”
