Mark Latham: Cabinet choices made ‘out of desperation’
Mark Latham joins Michael McLaren to dissect the cabinet reshuffling.
“There are some very obscure characters that have been brought into the cabinet.
“I’m not too sure they’re getting the jobs on merit, more out of desperation.
But Michael puts the question to Mark, is it a risk to put Tony Abbott back in the cabinet?
“I don’t think it’s a risk. It would unite the government and give conservatives around the country a reason to vote Liberal.
“If you’re going to have a reshuffle, to leave Tony Abbott on the backbench is a very bad look.”
There is also talk Kristina Keneally will go to Canberra to replace Senator Sam Dastyari.
“Well, I don’t think it’s a very smart move politically to replace Shanghai Sam with a political protégé of Eddie Obeid.”
